It’s all good, it’s all good. I first heard the track Diamonds in the Sun live while practicing yoga at an in studio performance by Girish in Chattanooga TN. The song inspired me so much that I purchased the CD immediately following the class. I love the CD and listen to it often. It is rapidly becoming a studio favorite where I teach and a fantastic addition to any yoga class playlist (for teachers). I find this collection of songs incredibly easy on the ears and uplifting.
Girish sings, plays guitar, harmonium, keyboards, and some percussion while accompanied by a host of talented musicians lending sounds including electric guitar, cello, sarangi, violin, pedal steel, banjo, and bass guitar. Â The music is up beat featuring wisps of electronica, traditional Indian beats, and some good ol’ rock and roll loaded up with a big helping of beautiful kirtan style vocals. The tunes are all vibrant and playful blending together traditional kirtan with an attitude so fresh you’ll catch yourself checking the CD cover for an expiration date.
My recommendation, get this music and fast. You will become an instant fan. Oh and by the way, if you ever get the chance to see a live performance do not pass it up and if your looking for super fun, visit the Wild Lotus Yoga Studio November 19-21 for a kirtan workshop instructed by Girish. I mean, Girish instructing a workshop at Sean Johnson’s studio, now that’s a lot of kirtan music!
