Paper Lantern studio at CYC

Carrboro Yoga Company

200 N Greensboro St, Suite C1

Carrboro, NC  27510

Phone: (919) 933-2921

Carrboro Yoga Company is one of those studios that makes you feel like your at your home studio even though you are on the road. It’s also one of those places that as you look around, everything seem just right. Sage Rountree, the owner of CYCo has created an incredibly welcoming and beautiful space.

Sage Rountree, owner of CYCo

Carrboro Yoga Company is located in the historic Carr Mill Mall building in the center of Carrboro North Carolina. The building is over one hundred years old, featuring original brick and wood floors. The entire building is absolutely charming and the wood floors and high ceilings are perfect for a yoga studio. CYCo is a place for connection in the Raleigh-Durham area. The instructors are all very qualified and skilled and the feeling of community at CYCo is strong.

Within walking distance form the studio you can find great coffee, shops of all sorts, restaurants and even the Carolina Brewery. Just downstairs you will find the great and possibly world famous Weaver Street Market for all your whole food grocery and deli needs! I cannot recommend the CYCo highly enough. If you are in Carrboro and looking for a great yoga experience, please, please visit CYCo. You never know, it just might change your life or at least your day.

Gold Circle Studio

Studios – 2 great studios, one large (the paper lantern studio) capable of supporting 50+ practitioners and one smaller (the gold circle studio) capable of supporting 30+ practitioners

Flooring – 100 year old heart of pine wood floors. These floors are beautiful and have been lovingly cared for over the years. They may not be perfectly level in some spots but the age of the wood gives the floor a perfect dynamic quality.

Amenities – CYCo supports a tiny boutique. You might find what you need for sale but the studio provides practitioners with everything they might need including loaner mats. The restroom facilities are shared with a few other businesses on the hall but are clean and perfectly adequate for changing (no showers).

Bodywork – N/A

Childcare – N/A

Parking – plenty of parking in the mall building lot. If the shops are busy you may need a couple of extra minutes to find a space but one should be available.

Vibration – welcoming and friendly. During my visit to CYCo I was treated like family. The studio has a way of making you feel connected to something bigger and greater. The staff is open and helpful. I also get the feeling that CYCo has deep roots in the North Carolina yoga community.

The fabulous Weaver St. Market, just downstairs.

All kinds of yoga available!!!  From gentle and restorative to flow, power flow, stretch and tone (isokinetics), FREE community class with live music, prenatal, pilates, yoga for athletes, kids yoga, Anusara-inspired yoga, and more!

SYNCStudio

Durham’s SYNCStudio came into this world in 2008 through a group of friends who had a common love with synchronized cycling, a passion for awesome music, and a dedication to the practice of yoga.  If you’re wondering just how all of these

SYNC Yoga allows students to find focus for cycling and all the other things in our busy lives.

things fit together, then schedule a class at SYNCStudio and you’ll find that common bond in practice and community.

SYNCStudio offers yoga, synchronized cycling, wellness coaching and personal training with a highly skilled staff that promotes fitness and well-being through group support, a lot of classes and plenty of smiles.

The yoga/cycling combination enables students to unearth a balance between body, mind and spirit.  You’ll get grounded and in shape at the same time at SYNC Studio.  And there’s also a balance found here between cycling and yoga.  Yoga is well-known to alleviate some of the issues that can develop out of a consistent cycling practice, such as tight hamstrings and back pain.  The focus that is honed in yoga can also be re-applied to cycling, as well as every area of our lives.

SYNCCycling is a unique indoor cycling style developed by the creators of the SYNCStudio.  Quite different from Spinning, SYNCCycling mixes traditional cycling with dance choreography.  As everyone moves together, instructors focus on training the group as a whole.

Yoga and Cycling compliment each other well and are just a few steps away at SYNCStudio

Some students say it’s kind of like dancing on the bike.  In these classes, students stand up and pedal in sync with the rhythm of the music, which demands more upper body movement and results in core strengthening.  As riders attain the synchrony of a transcendent, focused dance, a kind of collective consciousness is born in the room, and the yoga practice crosses over as cycling becomes a group meditation.  Plus, it’s also about great music, working hard and having fun.

You’re not supposed to sit down on these bikes, if you can.  The idea is to stay up to keep your energy up.  A committed community is always there to encourage you to find that inner power to keep going.

Popular in California, Studio Manager Christine Wall and VP of Operations Ashley Lively, to name just a few of the people behind the scenes of SYNC community, hoped to make this type of cycling popular here in Durham.

The great thing is that you can stretch out those worked out muscles right down the hall at your next SYNC yoga class.  And your first class at SYNC is free.

At SYNCStudio, find a common rhythm with a wonderful community through yoga and SYNCCycling.

Don’t miss out on SYNC Social events, including the SYNC 30 Days to Wellness Challenge, in which students attend as many classes as possible in 30 days.  The support you receive from staff and other students will definitely bring you back for more.

SYNC Studio’s support of yoga as a compliment to cycling speaks volumes to yoga as a practice.  Indeed, yoga is always happening—on the mat, on the bike, in our diet, wherever we are.  They’re applying yoga to life at SYNC Studio, and this is the community that can help you do that as well.

Cycling becomes group meditation with lots of smiles at SYNCStudio.

Triangle Yoga

Triangle Yoga features Aerial Yoga and Dance instruction for adults and kids.

The first thing you notice when you walk in one of Triangle Yoga’s three hard-wood spaces, bouncing off super high ceilings and the wide span of each room, is the light.  The light stops you in your tracks, and for a brief moment or a series of brief moments in your yoga class, holding your pose on your mat or flying through the air as you sail into your next aerial yoga asana, this is all that there is.  Your problems are put on hold, and you’re allowed to just float for a while.

The Moon Room, one of three wide open practice rooms at Chapel HIll's Triangle Yoga.

Chapel Hill is one of the most beautiful areas of North Carolina, and since 1995, it is host to one of the most awe-inspiring studios in the southeast.  Nicknamed ‘the southern part of Heaven,’ Chapel Hill, which is also well-known for the nearby University, is a fit home for Triangle Yoga, with a vision that this studio be ‘a sanctuary for anyone looking for peace in their lives.’

Triangle Yoga also hosts a community Women’s Art Co-Op, a work-trade program, and free community classes.  For those looking for multiple avenues of self-study in what is indeed a sanctuary built on tranquility, you’ll find it at Chapel Hill’s Triangle Yoga.
