Located in historic Charlottesville’s Belmont neighborhood, drop in on the next class at Ashtanga Yoga Charlottesville. This is where the science of yoga, as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, is studied and practiced. The structure and commitment necessary for Ashtanga yield the fruits of focus and happiness that can be hidden by the stages of this journey.
The instructors here have studied and practiced all over the world with Ashtanga masters. Classes are focused on the Ashtanga school, from beginner to advanced.
AYC Director Jennifer Elliott leads a 200-hour teacher training program every year. And workshops with well-known local and traveling instructors are often held at The Barn, a timber frame structure located off-site in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Strength, health and happiness are possible with a dedicated practice. Perhaps Ashtanga is the path. Building internal heat to awaken your nervous system to its natural state can lead to freedom, or at least a smile when you begin to know yourself again.
It’s all possible at AYC. Come in with an open mind and you’ll leave with an open heart.
Studio/Flooring: Hardwood floor that shines and motivates.

Vibration: Ashtanga is fun here, and the kula loves to study this system. People know your name when you walk in, and they go out of their way to welcome newcomers with a smile. AYC is proof that this difficult practice can be joyful and rewarding with patience, commitment and friends.
